Vision Plus 10

Creating inclusive information environments
Making visitors want to come again

International information design symposium
18 - 20 September 2003, Lech/Arlberg, Austria

What can easily be overcome by young and able bodied travellers might be a real obstacle for elderly tourists. Their number is steadily growing and so is the need to provide for their physical impairments and disabilities.

The European Year of People with Disabilities 2003 prompts us to pay special attention to the (often hidden) impairments of older tourists. Inclusive information environments will please not only the elderly for whom they are designed but also everyone travelling in unfamiliar territories.

All will benefit, will feel welcome and at home and the resulting ease and pleasure of the travelling will remain in their memories. People will want to come back and ? along with their holiday snaps ? share their experience with others, the best advertisement for any destination.
